The Truth About Water Baptism
Q: What if someone is on their deathbed? Can't they repent?
A: Can someone repent on their deathbed?
I personally know of people who believed in Jesus while dying in a hospital and were then baptized in Jesus' name for the remission of sins.
But why wait until you're on your deathbed?
Why not seek the Lord in the days of your youth? (Ecclesiastes 12:1) Why not seek the Lord while he may be found? (Isaiah 55:6)
There are some people who say, "I'm having too much fun to give my life to God now. I want to continue in sin for awhile. I'll wait until I'm old and on my deathbed, and then I'll repent and give my heart to God."
Do you think God is going to be mocked in that way? (Galatians 6:7)
I wouldn't stake my eternity on that line of logic.
On the other hand, you are reading this now. You are probably not on your deathbed. What is stopping you from responding and being baptized by immersion in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
